Can a post traumatic stress treatment help with affairs?

Absolutely! Over the years I have seen the pain and hurt from the fallout of infidelity. Which is why I use the latest evidence based practice Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) was developed by American psychologist Francine Shapiro. She reportedly discovered this herself when she was effected by marriage difficulties. This was last century and over the past 30 years EMDR has had the advantage of rigorous research that has demonstrated it’s efficacy in trauma treatment and life resolution.

Indeed EMDR is recognised as a gold standard treatment for anxiety conditions like post traumatic stress disorder. This advance in technology bridges the gap between mind and body therapy and as such multiplies the effectiveness and rapidity of profound results.

People come to see me as a psychologist, for pain relief from many hurt or traumatic experiences.

No where is this more apparent that in an affair. Sometimes there is an intial moment of discovery that is obviously traumatic to the betrayed person. This can see them replaying the email or text over and over in their minds  – very distressing and can lead to strong emotional reactions (this is a natural response and not a sign of pathology!) as people attempt to come to terms with this information.

This is where the EMDR and more recently Ego State Therapy (Dr Gordon Emmerson)  can be used to great effect to relieve the emotional pain and promote healing. By offering the ability to move forward into working on the relationship issues.

Having completed EMDR training parts 1 and 2, I have the expertise in this approach to help you break through the pain barrier and heal from this and other relationship injuries. Sometimes hurt is in the present and other times in the past – we get to the bottom of it to your resolve your pain and torment.

The results I have seen in a 50 minute session for people is incredible and I love watching someone reconnect to their self belief and inner resources, which of course means they get to function in ways that support themselves and their families.
